Bad habits can go a long way in derailing your productivity each day. The most successful people have developed the good habits that help them to be more productive, accomplishing more throughout their day. If you could eliminate certain bad habits, you would be amazed at how much of a boost you see in accomplishing tasks and meeting goals.

Zero-based thinking is the idea of getting rid of the things that have been draining your energy, emotions, time, and money. Right now, are there things that you know you would not commit to today, knowing what you know now? Apply this thinking to your personal life and your business and you will start to see a lot of ways that you can implement this zero-based thinking to start making things better now.

Zero-based thinking requires you to be committed and have courage. This isn’t the time for being wishy-washy. Be ruthless in cutting out the things that are eating up too much of your time. The more determined you are to eliminate wasteful activities, the sooner you will kickstart your productivity levels.

How much time do you spend cold calling for sales? Has it added any value to your business, or is it time to try a new tactic? If you spend 10 hours a week making phone calls to drum up business and you only make one or two sales a week, then it’s time to cut it from your to-do list. Are you spending too much time on social media during your work day, or checking emails, or returning phone calls? Cut those time-wasters out of your day and see how quickly you start crossing off important tasks.

These are just some examples of how zero-based thinking can get you away from bad habits that are keeping you from being your most productive self. What are some other areas that you can be ruthless about cutting out the things that take away from your value at work?
