Help With Goal Setting

One of the first things that a business coach encourages entrepreneurs to do is to sit down and determine what their goals are. It is imperative to figure out the immediate goals, the weekly goals, and the long-term goals. Without a finish line to cross, how will the business owner really know that they are making progress and being successful?

Make a Plan

Once there is a goal or list of goals in place, then it is time to make a plan to reach those goals.

Choose one of the goals on the list and then come up with at least three things they can do as the business owner to help achieve that goal. When there is a goal and a plan in place, the business owner has drawn a map with their coach, making it easier to reach their destination.

Look at the Larger Goals

Looking at the list of tasks and goals that need to be done, it is easy for an owner to want to check off the smaller, easier items off the list first.

The question they need to ask themselves is, “Is this going to help me move my business forward?”

If the answer is “No, not really,” then it is not a goal that needs to be focused on immediately.

Instead, entrepreneurs need to look ahead to the larger goals, the ones that are going to make a tangible difference in the success and growth of their business.
