What Stops You From Achieving Your Goals?

posted in: Power Principles

Once you have put together a list of all the goals that you want to achieve, you need to be aware of all the things that will work against you achieving those goals. These are known as constraints, or choke points. They are the obstacles that stand between you and your goal.

Being able to minimize and eliminate those constraints makes it easier for you to accomplish your goals in a shorter amount of time. Look at all of the things that have prevented you from completing goals in the past because they are likely the same things that are holding you back today.

The Pareto’s Principal says that if a person has not achieved a goal, 80% of the time it is because of something internal, something that is going on inside of you personally. The other 20% is external factors, something that is outside of your control.

Take note of the things that are slowing your progress, such as procrastination, indecision, lack of confidence, or lack of self-discipline. Work to overcome each of these things so that you can move forward and avoid the constraints that keep you from reaching your goals.
